LIVE BLOG: FIBA Bronze Medal Match: Smart - Gilas vs Qatar

  • Saeed of Qatar drains a corner triple, pushing the Qatar lead
. Game is starting to slip away for Gilas.
  • Gilas are 1/16 from beyond the arc. Not a good shooting performance. Live and die by the three pointer.
  • 67-56 QAT. 3:54 remaining in the 4th Quarter
  • Another three goes down for Qatar, that may be the dagger.
  • Qatar lead is now up to 14 with just under 3 minutes to go.
  • Saeed again with the hot hand, drains another 3 pointer from the corner.
  • Gilas looks beat, lethargic and completely dry of energy. Qatar's streaky three point shooting has a lot to do with it
  • 17 point lead now for Qatar, the largest of the game
  • Gilas scores a corner 3 of their own
  • But Johnson of Qatar answers back with another And-1 layup. Norwood picks up the foul and fouls out.
  • Qatar has a 15 point lead now with just under 2 minutes to play
  • 76-61 QAT. 1:43 left to play in the 4th.
  • Gilas shooting woes continue as Douthit misses another jumper
  • Qatar looking to deplete the clock. Shot clock violation. Under a minute left to play. Qatar up by 13.
  • Gilas start to chuck up desperation threes. Chan misses on a pull up.
  • Ali Saeed still continues to drain corner threes. Just got another one.
  • 79-63 QAT as they dribble out the clock
  • Final Score: Philippines 63 - Qatar 79. Behind a streaky shooting performance from Y. Mohammed and A. Saeed, Qatar drained 3 pointer after 3 pointer to beat the Philippines into submission.
  • Good effort by Marcus Douthit who played through an ankle injury. An energetic Gary David provided support but it just wasn't enough to overcome Gilas' shooting woes making just 2/17 from three point land.
  • When you miss that many three pointers, it leads to multiple fast break opportunities for the opponent. Couple that with a hot shooting display for Qatar and you have a blowout.
  • Congratulations to Qatar for clinching the FIBA 2012 Bronze Medal.
